Mr. Arturo G. “Tut” Topazio, age 82, of 519 Metacom Avenue, Bristol, died Monday, March 22, 2010 at St. Annes Hospital, Fall River, MA. He was the husband of Fannie A. (Camara) Topazio and the late Lillian C. (Oliveira) Topazio. Born in Bristol on the 4th of July, he was the son of the late Enrico “Rigooch”and Angelina (Pacelli) Topazio. A lifelong resident of Bristol, his familys heritage is a great part of Bristols cultural history. He served in the Merchant Marines and then as a Private in the US Army during WWII and following the war he served in the RI National Guard, Battery C in Bristol for many years, ending his career as a Sergeant. A Master Plumber and Journeyman in both RI and MA, he owned and operated Topazios Plumbing and Heating of Bristol for many years. He worked for several years for the Bristol School System in the maintenance department, retiring in 1992. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Bristol. He was an avid woodworker which was part of his many artistic talents, best known for his wooden figures for every holiday which he shared with so many driving by his home on Metacom Avenue with the most noted would be his 4th of July decorations, that even made the Providence Journal. He was an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Soxs Fan. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Pauline Gemma Wujcik and her husband, Edward of Wentworth, NH, three grandchildren, Jaye Olmstead of Plymouth, NH, Brian Wujcik of Tilton, NH and Lonnie Wujcik of Meredith, NH, Seven great grandchildren, Brandon Harris, serving with the US Marines in Afghanistan, Benjamin and Hannah, Olmstead, Mela, Chase, Cadence and Grace Wujcik; Six step-children, Cynthia Matar and her husband, Jay of Swansea, MA, Harold Angell and his wife, Veronica, Kenneth Angell and his wife, Susan, all of Jacksonville, FL, Michael Angell and his wife, Michelle, of Tiverton, Michelle Angell of Virginia Beach, VA and Regina Angell of Middletown, thirteen step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren, two brothers, Atillio “Teet” Topazio of Cranston and William “Gut” Topazio of Long Island, NY. In addition to his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Rachel F. Ouellette, Frank J. and Michael Topazio, Mary, Edward and Angelo Calandra, Gemma Murphy and Enes Kennelly. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours, Friday, March 26, 2010 from 4:00-7:00 PM.
