Mr. Andrew A. Pansa, age 94, of High Street, Bristol, died Friday, April 9, 2010 at St. Elizabeths Manor, Bristol. He was the beloved husband of the late Josephine L. (Bruno) Pansa. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, he was the son of the late Thomas and Anna (Mangiero) Pansa. Andrew graduated from Bristols Colt Memorial High School in 1935 and Bryant College in 1937 with a bachelor of science in business administration. He worked for US Rubber in Bristol as an accountant for several years and was later the owner of Union Commercial Hardware in Bristol for over forty years. Andrew was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Bristol Council # 379 for over 60 years. During the 1970s he was President of the Board of Directors of the former Bristol Credit Union. 1997, he and his late wife served as chief marshals for the 16th of July Feast Celebration in honor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. He was the beloved father of Thomas P. Pansa and his wife, Patti of San Jose, California, Andrew S. Pansa of Bristol, and Leonard F. Pansa and his wife, Nancy of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, cherished grandfather of Rebecca Gill, Travis and Heather Shoaf, Jennifer, Drew and Emily Pansa and great grandfather of Aiden Gill, Christopher and Morgan Shoaf. He is also survived by a sister, Sylvia Terra of Warren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Raffaelina and Anna Pansa, Louise Spendolini, Elvira Connery and brother, O. Robert Pansa. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours, Monday, April 12, 4:00-7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Our Lady of Mount Carmel School Scholarship Fund, 127 State Street or to the Bristol Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 775, both Bristol, RI 02809.
