Andrew Boyes, Age 71 of Bristol RI died peacefully on Wednesday December 2nd at home with his wife Janet at his side. Andy was born in Lydney, England to William and Margaret and grew up in Hamilton, Scotland. As a young man, Andy was good with his hands and took an affinity to a technical trade. He was educated at St Johns Grammar School in Hamilton and did a technical apprenticeship to complete his education. He then took those skills around the world as an engineer aboard oil tankers. After traveling the world, Andy met Janet through a group of friends. They were married in 1970 and enjoyed 45 years of marriage. In 1975, Andy, Janet, Gordon and Lin began their journey to the US. Andy was offered the opportunity to launch the US operations for his employer in England. The young family established roots in Glen Ellyn IL, a suburb of Chicago, where they lived until moving to Bristol in 1997. Andy felt at home in Bristol and enjoyed the outdoors including his garden, Colt State Park, and biking along the East Bay Bike Path. He is survived by wife Janet, brother Ian (Lynn), sister Gill (Paul), son Gordon (Kathy) and daughter Lin (Greg). He was beloved “Grandy” of Dylan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert (Vicki). A celebration of life will be held at Andy and Janets home, 40 Beach Road, Bristol, on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 2:00-4:00 PM.
