Albert Francis Eagan, of Bristol, died Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at the Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of the late Anna Marie (Baldail) Eagan. Born in Fall River, MA he was a son of the late Daniel Joseph and Mae E. (Young) Eagan. Albert enlisted in the Army from 1937-1941 and served in the Panama Canal Zone. He was a WW II veteran and served his country from January 3, 1942 - June 25, 1946. He was part of the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign. After WW II, he had a twenty seven year career in the Coast Guard. He served on CC Cutter Ingham and the USS Greely. He was stationed in Boston, Woods Hole, Newport and Bristol. While in the Coast Guard, he participated in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired as a Master Chief Boatswains Mate. From age 62-80 Albert worked on the water, commercially shell fishing with his son Daniel. Albert was a member of St. Michaels Church and served on the Vestry. He was a Mason with the St. Albans Lodge, Bristol for 56 years. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, attending his final game in Baltimore for his 90th birthday. Also at that time he was extremely proud to visit the World War II Memorial in Washington DC and to know his name and picture were included at the memorial. Albert is survived by his sons, Robert Francis Eagan and his wife, Lois of Chester, CT, Daniel Joseph Eagan and his wife, Lisa of Bristol. His grandchildren, Rachael, Katie and Daniel, and a sister, Mary Otaki of Ft. Meyers, FL. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Joseph Eagan. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Requiem Eucharist Service, Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 10:30 am in St. Michaels Episcopal Church, Hope St., Bristol. Burial with Military Honors will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope St., Bristol. Visiting hour will be Saturday morning only from 9:30-10:30 in St. Michaels Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Coast Guard Foundation, Inc., 394 Taugwork Road, Stonington, CT 06378. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Sansone Funeral Home.
