He runs from anger and into hate Never realizing it is his own fate. To be made a hero in his own eyes As one who had lived, one who has died. The hidden man cringes at the sound of a gun Could it have been him or one of his sons. A cry from the darkness rings in his ears Is it the silence he truly fears. In the image of himself as a drifter at heart No one gave him a chance, not even a start. The hidden man cowers and covers his ears Is it the sound of life that he really fears, Yet in the darkness of night the hidden man rises To know its his own life he really surmises. The hidden man finally emerges a winner From the depths of life, a new beginner. The hidden man has finally selected To begin the new life he once carelessly rejected.
