Mildred
Balzano
Sep 4, 1925 — Jul 27, 2026
Mildred "Millie" Balzano, consummate hostess and owner of "Tweet" Balzano's Family Restaurant, a Bristol and East Bay icon for over sixty years, peacefully departed this life on July 27, in the presence of her daughter Camille. Her greatest pleasure in life, besides her family, was meeting and greeting her beloved customers at "Tweet's", and proudly working alongside her husband and partner for over 49 years, Anthony "Tweet" Balzano, who predeceased her in 1996.
She leaves behind sons: John and William; daughters: Camille Manchester and Samantha Dinn as well as seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Millie was born the last of eight children (Andrew, Angelo, Albert, Dominic, Vera, Mary, Claire) to Liberina and Palmino DeTora on September 4, 1925. She celebrated 100 years of joyous life with family and friends this past September.
Millie will always be remembered for her warm, welcoming embrace, loving smile, and kind words. She had a knack for making all within her sphere of influence feel special with her generosity, gentle touch, and genuine manner. She truly leaves behind a legacy of lasting love as she joins her husband, parents, and siblings in the arms of the Almighty.
Nothing is forever; only love lasts,
Some with burden borne, others lightly framed;
We are but dust, memories are the past.
What is becomes memory, image in glass,
Men and women come, go in silence or fame;
Nothing is forever; only love lasts.
Present is most precious, try to hold fast;
Earth goes on revolving, none of this remains;
We are but dust, memories are the past.
Lives lived together, together en masse;
Seek out truth, beauty through sunshine and rain;
Nothing is forever; only love lasts.
Rage against the dark, voices in the blast;
Rage against the dark, voices in refrain;
We are but dust, memories are the past.
Voices in the twilight, voices we cast;
Sorrow on the Earth; rainy eyes in pain;
We are but dust; memories are the past;
Nothing is forever; only love lasts.
- A Villanelle to Millie
