Matthew C. Borgia

Matthew C. Borgia, 104, of Bristol, passed away on September 21, 2016. He was born in Manfredonia, Italy on September 21, 1912, to parents Francisco and Josephine (Ruggiero) Borgia. He was the husband of the late Marion Sousa. Matthew is survived by his loving daughters; Loretta Wilcox of Warwick and Mary Ann Card of Bristol, as well as five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Matthew was predeceased by all of his siblings; Joseph and Andrew Borgia, Antoinetta Bergantino, Jerry and Carlo Borgia and Anna Vollaro, as well as both of his son-in-laws, George Wilcox and Raymond A. Card. Matthew worked as a foreman for Kaiser Aluminum Corporation; he was a professional boxer and an all-around athlete. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, October 17, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 141 State St. Bristol, RI 02809, at 10 am.
