Mary C. Stewart

Mary C. (Pinto) Stewart, 96, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, June 26, 2022. She was the loving wife of the late Walter M. Stewart, Jr. Born in Bristol, she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Carmela (Balzano) Pinto. Mary was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She worked for Converse for many years before moving on to working for Raytheon in Portsmouth, RI. Mary leaves behind her three children: Joseph Stewart (Karin), Donna Dias, Dorothy Cabral (John); ten grandchildren: Joseph Stewart (Lynn), Shawn Stewart (Nicole), Christopher Stewart, Joy Southworth (Paul), Christine Rapoza (Justin), Corrine Piossant (Robert), Michael Dias, Jr., Cara Sousa (Steven), Madeline Toste (Kyle), John Cabral (Megan); her fifteen great grandchildren: Shawn Stewart, Joseph Stewart, Jr., Andrew Stewart, William Southworth, Lilly Stewart, Hope Stewart, Isaac Southworth, Eloise Southworth, David Raposa, Hunter Dias, Emma Sousa, Samuel Sousa, Logan Toste, Lucian Toste, Levi Toste; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. In death, Mary is reunited with her husband, her parents, and her sister Lucy Amaral. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Calling Hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name can be made to the Bristol Animal Shelter.
