Mary Ann (Silvia) "Dolly" Sousa, 83, of Boca Raton, FL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of Richard M. Sousa, with whom she shared 63 beautiful years of marriage. Born and raised in Bristol, Rhode Island, Mary Ann was the beloved daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Coccio) Silvia. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, where her faith was a guiding light in her life. Mary Ann began her professional career as a beautician, founding La Castilian Beauty Salon in Bristol, RI. In 1978, she embarked on a new venture as the owner of Bayberry House in Barrington, RI. Her career took another turn in 1981 when she entered the banking industry, working as a mortgage originator for Fleet National Bank in Bristol. In 1991, Mary Ann and her husband moved to Boca Raton, Florida, where she continued her banking career as a mortgage originator and mortgage broker. She retired from Bank of America in 2002. Family was the cornerstone of Mary Ann's life. She was a devoted mother to her three sons, fostered two young girls, and extended her nurturing spirit to all her nieces and nephews. In her younger days she had a passion for travel and dancing and will always be remembered for turning clothes shopping into a lifelong hobby. She was, by nature, an outgoing person who loved to meet people and did so through her many travel experiences. Above all, Mary Ann adored her husband, Richard. Their love story began in high school and blossomed into a lifelong partnership filled with adventure and cherished memories. Mary Ann is survived by her beloved husband, Richard M. Sousa; her children: Richard A. Sousa (Jennifer), Christopher J. Sousa (Colleen), and Jonathan S. Sousa (Iris); her grandchildren: Ricky Sousa, Gabrielle Sousa, Olivia Sousa, Tiernan Sousa, Sabrina LeZotte (Daniel), and Amanda Gonzalez; her sister: Carol Pray; nieces: Melissa Hamilton and Holly Pray; and a large extended family of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her grandchild, Samantha Savranakis; her parents, Manuel and Mary Silvia; and her sister, Bridget Hawthorne. Visiting Hours will be held at Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 4:00 7:00 PM. Her funeral will begin at Sansone Funeral Home, Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St, Bristol, RI at 10:00 AM.
