Mary J. Shorey

Mrs. Mary J. (Castro) Shorey, age 77, of 20 Libby Lane, Warren and formerly of Bristol, died Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at the Silver Creek Manor Nursing Home, Bristol. She was the wife of Glendon E. Shorey, her husband of 58 years. Born in Bristol, she was a daughter of the late Gabriel and Maria (Nunes) DeCastro. A resident of Warren for 47 years, she previously resided in Bristol. Mrs. Shorey was a machine operator at the former Pilling Chain Co., in West Barrington for several years, retiring in 1975. She previously worked at the former Collins and Aikman Company and Robin Rug Co. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Gwendolyn M. Day of Swansea, MA, a son, Glendon R. Shorey of Warren, two grandchildren, Denyse M. Dias of Swansea and Nathan A. Shorey of Warwick, two great grandchildren, Emma R. and Olivia B. Dias, both of Swansea, two brothers, Joseph DeCastro of Bristol, Anthony DeCastro of East Providence, two sisters, Philomena Bilotti and Josephine Calce, both of Bristol. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gabriel Castro. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend visiting hours, Friday, April 6, 2007 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM in the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol. Funeral services and burial will be held in Unity, Maine. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 931 Jefferson Blvd., Suite 3004, Warwick, RI 02886.
