Mary C. Prenda Ruff

Mrs. Mary C. (Costa) Prenda Ruff, age 89, of 121 Wood Street, Bristol, died Thursday, October 5 at the Grace Barker Nursing Center, Warren. She was the former wife of the late Manuel Prenda. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Oliveira) Costa. She was a foot press operator at the American Tourister Company in Warren for 10 years, retiring in 1979. She previously worked at the former Crown Fastener Company formerly in Warren. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeths Church, Bristol. She is survived by a son, Manuel “Bob” Prenda and his wife, Barbara, of Bristol, two sisters, Angelina Miranda and Hilda Degnan, both of Bristol, and a brother, David Costa, of Portsmouth, NH. Also survived by four grandchildren, Patricia A. Baccus, of Bristol, Nancy J. Prenda, of Pawtucket, David A. Goulart, of Saint Marys, Kansas, and Robert Prenda, of Warwick, six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. In addition to her former husband and parents she was preceded in death by four brothers, Manuel, Louis, Joseph and Arthur Costa. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Tuesday at 8:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in St. Elizabeths Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours, Monday, 4:00 - 8:00 PM.
