Mary M. Dion

Mrs. Mary M. (Mascena) Dion, age 87, of Fairview Drive, Bristol, died Friday at the Miriam Hospital, Providence, she was the wife of the late George E. Dion, Jr. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Salvatore and Maria (Russo) Mascena. Mrs. Dion was a textile worker at the former Premier Thread Co., Bristol for 22 years, retiring in 1981. She was a communicant of St. Marys Church, Bristol and loving cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by a daughter, Linda M. Biben of San Diego, CA, two sons, Gary E. and Richard T. Dion, a sister, Fortunata “Phoebe” Mascena, all of Bristol and eight grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, George E. Dion, III and two brothers, Santo and Angelo Mascena. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 9 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours, Tuesday, 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Meeting Street School, 1000 Eddy Street, Providence, RI02905.
