Mary Lou Almeida

Mrs. Mary Lou (Ventura) Almeida, age 87 of 3111 North Ocean Drive, Hollywood, FL, died Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at Vitas Hospice Ft Lauderdale, FL surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Joseph S. Almeida, they were married 69 years. Born in Bristol, she resided in Florida for the last 35 years, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Ventura and Marie Hortencia (Mattos) Ventura Silvia. She was a supervisor for the former Smiths Manufacturing Co formerly in Bristol and also was the owner of three successful family businesses with her husband, she was very active at Sheridan Hill Baptist in Florida, In the Bristol Community, she was a Red Cross Ambulance Driver, a Den Mother and a candy striper for local nursing homes. In the Florida Community she was a Red Cross Volunteer at Joe DiMaggios Children Memorial Hospital and a polling agent in Broward County. Mrs. Almeidas passion for life will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in her five children; Joseph Almeida, Jr., of Providence, Theresa M. Nash of Hollywood, FL, Mary Lou Mancieri of Bristol, Bernadette Almeida of Portsmouth and Carol Lee Proto of Winter Haven, FL., thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren, and a brother Anthony Ventura of Norfolk, VA. In addition toher parents she was preceded in death by a son, Raymond J. Almeida, two brothers, Joseph Ventura, Jr. and Charles Ventura. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service Monday, September 8, 2008at 10:00 AM in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Visiting hours Sunday, September 7, 2008 from 2:00-5:00 PM in the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to VITAS Hospice, 5420 NW 33rd Ave, Suite 100, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33309.
