Marie Angela (Cicero) Burden, aged 81, was born at home on September 30, 1943. She died peacefully in her home with her daughters and her beloved cat Simba by her side on October 14, 2024.
Marie lived in Rhode Island most of her life, before retiring to Vero Beach, Florida. In 2009, she moved back to Rhode Island and settled in Rumford. She attended schools in Barrington and Bristol and continued her education at the University of Rhode Island.
Marie had a long career at Raytheon Company before she proudly assumed the role of director at the Good Neighbors Soup Kitchen in Bristol. For a decade, she created a vibrant community for her "diners" where she and her amazing team of volunteers offered compassion, kindness, respect, and hearty meals to everyone who walked through the doors.
Marie never found a thrift shop or a shoreline that she didnt love and enjoyed all things green and growing. She was a passionate seeker of beach glass, seashells, and perfect recipes. Her wit and scrabble skills were unmatched as were her home-made Italian cookies. Our mom lived her faith, loved her family deeply, and treasured her friends.
She cherished raising her four daughters and being central in their lives.
She is survived by Lisa Eagan (Daniel) of Prudence Island, RI, Sherri Eaton of Tennessee, Lee Hart (Brock) of Grapevine, TX, and Mary-Ann Rinaldi (Michael) of Rumford. Above all, she loved being "Gandie" to Bryan Levering (Trish) of Vero Beach, FL, Lindsay Maxwell of Micco, FL, Katie Eagan (Matt Kearns) of Prudence Island, RI, Daniel "Skip" Eagan, Tess Parker of Bristol, RI, Jillian Parker of Miami, FL, Logan Rinaldi of Portsmouth, RI, and Carson Rinaldi of Rumford, RI. Marie was also a delighted "Gandie" to her seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She held her nieces and cousins very close to her heart.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Salvatore and Angelina (Mathias) Cicero, and her brother, Joseph M. Cicero.
