Mrs. Marie T. (Schinigoi) Brown, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2006 just a few days shy of her 85th birthday on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Fanny Schinigoi. Raised in Bristol, Rhode Island, she was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School, WWII veteran WAC-HQ-1XAFSC serving in England and France. She was determined to see the world and did, claiming that there was “gypsy blood” in her veins. After the war she married Joseph E. Brown, Jr. of Bristol and raised her surviving sons, Timothy and Barry in the Tidewater Area of Virginia. Marie and Joe were active in the early parish life of St. Rose Lima Church and School in Hampton, VA and St. Marys Star of the Sea School in Phoebus, VA where Marie taught 5th grade for a total of 25 years. She was lovingly known as the “Nun with a Bun”. After retirement, Marie and Joe shared their retirement years between Plantation, Florida and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. She loved to follow the sun. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, Elizabeth Ann Lopes and two brothers, Ludwig and John Schinigoi. Her surviving brother, Robert Schinigoi resides in Bristol, RI. Son, Timothy M. Brown (retired) and spouse Virginia Wren Brown reside in Jackson, Wyoming and son Barry J. Brown (employed by Kellogg Supply) lives in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. Funeral Services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Thursday, August 3 at 9AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Marys Church, 330 Wood St., Bristol. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut St., Bristol. Visiting hours, Wednesday, 5-8 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made the American Heart Association, 222 Richmond Street, Suite 108, Providence, RI 02903.
