Maria Laura Gois

Maria Laura Gois (Goes), 96, of Bristol passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children, on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Silver Creek Manor in Bristol. Born on the island of Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Alvaro and Luzia (Silva) Simao. Maria was a long time communicant of St. Elizabeths Church in Bristol. Maria was an accomplished seamstress who enjoyed sewing and making clothes. She loved to travel but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by her children: Lisette M. Silva, Mary Joe Soares (Joseph), Alvaro M. Goes (Joyce), Anthony J. Goes (Gina); her 10 grandchildren, her six great grandchildren, her brother: James Simao (Eduarda); and many extended family and friends. Maria was pre-deceased by her parents Alvaro and Luzia and her brother Manual Aires Simoes. Visiting Hours will be held at Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 from 4PM-7PM. Her funeral will begin from Sansone Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 10AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM at St. Elizabeths Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Friends of St. Elizabeth.
