Marcelle C. Massa

Mrs. Marcelle C. (Collins) Massa, age 94, of Silver Creek Manor, and formerly of State Street, Bristol, died Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at Silver Creek Manor Nursing Home, Bristol. She was the wife of the late Salvatore Massa, a former RI State Representative. Born in Matane, Province of Quebec, Canada, a daughter of the late Micheal and Rose (Berneir) Collins. A resident of Bristol for 71 years, she previously resided in Fall River, MA. Mrs. Massa was a Seamstress for the former Best Made Dress Company, formerly in Warren for 18 years, retiring in 1956. She had previously worked at the former Puritan Curtain Company in Fall River for 8 years. She was a Communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol and a member of the Rosary and Altar Society, the Nocturnal Adoration Society, a 16th of July Feast Committee Member, a past Vice President of the former Holy Rosary Society, she was member and a Past Regent of the Hope Circle # 70, Daughters of Isabella, a member of the former First Friday Club of Bristol County, a Past President of the Lionness Club of the Bristol County Lions. She was also a member of the International Sunshine Society of Bristol, she was a former C.C.D. Teacher at St. Marys Church, Bristol for a number of years and a former Brownie Scout Leader. She is survived by two brothers, Gilles Collins of Fall River, MA and Robert Collins of Jacksonville, FL, a sister, Florence Silvia of Middletown, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Gerard Collins, and three sisters, Paqurette Booth, Adrienne Lavoie and Loretta Cardoza. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Monday, April 9, 2007 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol, RI. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours Monday morning at 9:00 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, “Safe and Secure for the Future Campaign”, 141 State Street, Bristol, RI 02809.
