Mr. Manuel Pacheco Pereira, age 57, of 35 Tower St., Bristol, died Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Maria C. (Cabral) Pereira, his wife of 32 years. Born in Sao Miquel, Azores, he was the son of the late Leonel and Guilhermina (Belarosa) Pereira. A resident of Bristol for 34 years, he previously resided in the Azores. He had served in the Portuguese Military a few years before coming to Bristol. He was a carpenter for the FT Construction Co. of Bristol for 6 years, before retiring in 2001 due to illness. He had previously worked for Joe Arruda Construction and Pearson Yachts. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeths Church and was active in the Holy Ghost Feasts at the church. He was a member of the Romeiros club at St. Anthonys Church in Pawtucket. He was a member of the New England Runt Club - Rumbler Club. He was an avid hunter, spending many years hunting with his beloved late Shalandra, his Portuguese Pandago Dog. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Michael C. Pereira, two daughters, Diane C. and Vanessa C. Pereira, two grandsons, Aidan K. and Ian M. Pereira, all of Bristol, four brothers, Jose, Mariano and Antonio Pereira of Bristol and Lionel Pereira of Warren. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Elizabeths Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours, Tuesday, December 15, from 4:00-8:00 PM.
