Madeline Leana Desmarais Vital

Mrs. Madeline L. (Surgento) Desmarais Vital, age 87, of 20 Libby Lane, Warren and formerly of Bristol, died Monday, February 25, 2008 at the Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. She was the wife of the late Joseph P. Vital, Jr. and the late Emilien A. Desmarais. Born and raised in Bristol, she was a daughter of the late Matthew and Lorenza (Trotta) Surgento. A resident of Warren for 24 years, she lived most of her life in Bristol. She was a seamstress for 45 years at the former Priscillas Sportswear in Bristol, retiring in 1981. Following her retirement she worked for 10 years at the former R.&J. Jewelry, formerly in Warren, retiring from there in 1991. She was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Warren and loved sewing, crafts, line dancing and shopping at the Malls. She is survived by four children; Emilien G. Desmarais of Warwick, Laura A. LaMontagne of Providence, Noel J. Desmarais of Providence and Julie A. Lowe of California, three step children; Joseph P. Vital, III of Maine, Lester B. Vital of Swansea and Dee Ann Pattie of Warren; eight grandchildren; David Desmarais, of Middletown, Wanda Desmarais of Bristol, Jesse Desmarais of Cranston, Scott Desmarais of Connecticut, Michael Larrivee of Providence, Jason Lowe of Washington, April LaMontagne of Bristol and Jacob Desmarais of Warwick and fourteen great grandchildren. She was also survived by two brothers; Joseph Surgento of New Bedford, MA and Michael Surgento of Barrington and a sister, Irene Ruggieri of Barrington and a sister-in-law, Helen Surgento of Warren. In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Matthew and Anthony Surgento. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 500 Metacom Avenue, Warren. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours, Friday, February 29, 2008 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM.
