DE LUCA, LOUISE (ACCIARDO) 91, of DeWolf Ave Bristol,died after a short illness Monday July 13, 2009 at Silver Creek Manor, BristolBeloved wife of the late Domenic De Luca. Born in Providence, raised in Barrington she was a daughter of the late Angelo and Angelina(Picozzi) Acciardo.She lived in Bristol for 70 years. For several years in the 1950s she owned and operated Louises Specialty Shoppe, a clothing store on Wood Street. She was a shop stewart in the stitching room at Smiths-Bristol Manufacturing for nearly 10 years. In the 1970s-80s she was employed by the Bristol Phoenix in the mail room and worked at the former Collins & Aikmen and Trifaris Jewerly company. Louise was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, a member of the Holy Rosary Alter Society and a member of The Daughters of Isabella Hope Circle 70 for over 57 years and served as vice-regent for 6 years. She was the past -president of the Bristol Senior Council and was the first woman president elected in 1983. She was a co-founder and past -president of the Bristol Senior Chorus. A member of the Kaiser Retirees club and the Benjamin Church Senior Center. In the 1960s Louise was the past-president ofOur Lady of Mount Carmels PTA Mothers club. In the 1980s she organized several bus tours through-out the region called the “Jolly Group” highlighted by a trip to the 1982 Worlds Fair in Nashville ,Tennessee. In recent years she was a Sunshine ClubVolunteer distributinghandicap equipment to the needy through-out the EastBay area.An avid Red Sox Fan who loved traveling and cooking for family and friends. She enjoyed playing the Hawaiian guitar. She is survived by her loving and devoted son, Paul De Luca, a sister Elsie Rodrigues of Bristol , brothers Daniel Acciardo of Providence and Thomas Acciardo of Barrington. Her two Grandchildren Rosetta-Louise Araujo and Robert “Rob” De Luca and her deep love for her Great- Grandchildren Jacob Araujo, Ashley Araujo and William De Luca. Beside her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by a son Ronald De Luca who passed away on July 10, 2009, sisters Filomena Pannone (Harry) and Rosann Fonseca(Norbert) and brothers Anthony and Vincent Acciardo. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street Bristol, Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 9AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol, RI. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours Friday, July 17,2009 from 4:00-7:00PM.
