Mr. Louis F. DiMezza, age 85 of 1165 Hope Street, Bristol, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at the RI Veterans Home, 480 Metacom Avenue, Bristol. He was the husband of Anne (Bruno) DiMezza, his wife of 51 years. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, he was a son of the late Albenzio and Anna (Vona) DiMezza. Mr. DiMezza served in the US Navy during WWII. He was a Toll Bridge Supervisor for the State of Rhode Island Bridge and Turnpike Authority of Newport for 20 years, retiring in 1988. He previously owned and operated for many years DiMezza Bakery, which was started by his late father. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol and a member of the Bristol County Lodge of Elks # 1860, Bristol. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Albenzio DiMezza of Bristol and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Martha DeLeo. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bristol Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 775, Bristol, RI 02809. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Sansone Funeral Home, Bristol.
