Louis A. Almeida, 83, of Bristol passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. He was the devoted husband of the late Veronica M. (Almeida) Almeida for 55 years before her passing in January of 2019. A lifelong Bristolian, Louis was the son of the late Louis and Anna Virginia (Lang) Almeida. Louis was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School, Class of 1959. Louis was a communicant of St. Elizabeths Church in Bristol. He graduated from Roger Williams University and was an electrical engineer by trade. He held positions with Medtronic and as a defense contractor. He was proud to first introduce cardiac physicians in the surgical implantation of pacemakers. An outdoorsman, Louis enjoyed spending time in nature, especially hunting and fishing. He often went on hunting trips with his sons. Louis was the owner of Top of the Dock bait shop in Narragansett, RI. One of his favorite things to do was take leisurely drives through Colt State Park looking for fish, taking his last ride earlier on the day of his passing. Louis kindness knew no bounds. Beyond being a devoted father, he extended his warmth and guidance to countless others, being a second dad to many of his children's friends. His impact radiated throughout their lives, shaping them with his wisdom, care, and unwavering support. He leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will forever inspire those fortunate enough to have known him. He is survived by his children: Dr. Christopher J. Almeida (Julie), Stephen Almeida (Christine), Keith L. Almeida; his grandchildren: Haley Hofstetter, Tyler Almeida (Dina), Olivia Almeida, Jessica Almeida; his great grandchildren: Abigail Sousa and Dylan Almeida; his sister, Florine (Susie) Sousa (Anthony); and many extended relatives and friends. In death, Louis is reunited with his beloved wife Veronica and his parents. Visiting Hours will be held at Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, on Sunday, June 2, 2024 from 2:00 5:00 PM. His funeral will start from Sansone Funeral Home on Monday, June 3, 2024 at 9:30 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol.
