Mrs. Lorraine (Raposa) Castro, age 74, of 669 Metacom Avenue, Unit 21, Bristol, died peacefully Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Manuel “Funny Bird” Castro. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Emily (Martin) Raposa and a step daughter of the late Albertina Raposa. Mrs. Castro was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School, Class of 1951. She was a sales clerk for the Brooks Drug in Store in Bristol for 37 years, retiring in 1998. She had previously worked at the former Adams Drug Store in Warren for a number of years. She was a communicant and one of the first Eucharistic Ministers at St. Elizabeths Church, Bristol. She loved watching TV, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her family. She is survived by two daughters, Donna M. Chabot of Bristol, Kathy J. Ferreira of Warren and a grandson, Christopher M. Chabot of Bristol. In addition to her husband, parents and step mother, she was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Vargas and a brother, George Raposa. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 9:00 AM in St. Elizabeths Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
