Obituary

Lester Earl Duncan, 93, a lifelong resident of Barrington, RI, passed away peacefully at the Rhode Island Veterans' Home in Bristol, RI on July 9, 2026. He was the beloved fiancé of Dawn M. Neil, with whom he shared more than 44 years of memories.

Born in Barrington, RI on June 15, 1933, he was a son of the late George Duncan and the late Viola (LaFlamme) Duncan. He was raised and educated in Barrington where he was a 1951 graduate of Barrington High School.

He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and remained a patriotic man his entire life.

Mr. Duncan was employed as a truck driver for Super Value, a food distribution company, in Cranston, RI, for many years prior to his retirement.

An ardent sailor for many years, he treasured the times spent aboard his sailboats the "Lou-Ann" and the "Stardust". He passed his love for sailing on to his children and family at a young age and they, too, now share his love for sailing.

He enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, woodworking projects, playing softball and as an avid bicyclist was still cycling up to five miles a day up until almost the age of 90.

However, his greatest satisfaction was creating lifelong memories with family to treasure for a lifetime.

In addition to Dawn, he leaves his children: Lou-Ann Lyne and her husband, Russell Lyne, of Barrington, RI, Jeffrey D. Duncan and his wife, Kimberley (Peoples) Duncan, of Ormond Beach, Florida and Steven M. Duncan and his wife, Jill (Marchant) Duncan, of Bluffton, South Carolina; six grandchildren: Lisa Lyne, Ian Duncan, Steven Duncan, Amanda Ferrara, Jordan Duncan and Andrew Duncan; three great grandchildren: Rhea Duncan, Rocco Ferrara and Angelo Ferrara and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

He was the brother of the late Elizabeth Browne, James O. Duncan and Jean Duncan.

All are warmly welcome to attend a Funeral Service on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 11:00 am in the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, RI.

Visitation has been respectfully omitted.

Burial with military honors will follow in the family plot in Princes Hill Burial Ground, Barrington, RI.
