Julia L. Sousa

Mrs.Julia L. Sousa, 89 of State Street, Bristol, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, November 29, 2009surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late John C. Sousa. A lifelong resident of Bristol, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Julia Sousa. She is the devoted mother of Elizabeth Tobiasz and her husband Bob of Seekonk, Kathleen “Bunnie” Lewis and her husband Charles of Bristol, and the late Patricia Scalera. She is also survived by her sister, Olivia Silvia of Bristol, a son-in-law, Steve Scalera and his wife Rita, of Hampton, NH,grandchildren, Stephen (Julie), Kevin, and Jonathan Scalera, Robert (Becky) and Scott Tobiasz, Caryn Sullivan (Brian), Patricia Thoren (Eric), Keri and Kristen Lewis, andgreat grandchildren, Anna and Robert Tobiasz and Madison Scalera. Julia was also preceded in death by brothers, James and Louis Sousa and sisters, Elvira Ferreira, Mary Sousa and Grace Massa. Julia was a communicant of St. Elizabeths Church, the Holy Rosary Sodality and an active volunteer in the Holy Ghost and Our Lady of Fatima Celebrations and the Nocturnal Adoration Society of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Her family was the primary focus of her life and her greatest joy. She was a seamstress at Priscilla Sportswear in Bristol. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Elizabeths Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Bristol. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 3:00-7:00 PM.
