Mrs. Josephine R. (Russo) Favro, of Congregational Street, Bristol, wife of the late Philip E. Favro, died Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at the Elmhurst Extended Care, Providence, surrounded by her sister and family. Born in Bristol, and a lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Granata) Russo. Josephine was a supervisor in the cafeteria at Roger Williams College, she also worked for the former Bristol Manufacturing Co. and Collins and Aikman Co. for many years. She was a communicant of St. Marys Church, Bristol and a past member of the Christmas Bazaar Committee. She was a former member of the Collins and Aikmans Girls Club and bowling team, past member of the Leonardo DaVinci Lodge Sons of Italy, Benjamin Church and Bristol Senior Citizen Centers. She was a volunteer in many of the area nursing homes, and the retired senior program in Riverside. For her many years of volunteering Josephine received a Citation from RI former Governor Edward DiPrete. She will be sadly missed by her sister, Carmela V. Russo of Bristol and loved by her many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Russo and four sisters, Concetta Zundell, Mary Cala, Sue Morris and Rose E. Capone. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Saturday at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Marys Church, 330 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours Friday from 4:00-7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Elmhurst Extended Care Eden Fund, 50 Maude Street, Providence, RI 02908 or Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
