Joseph M. Sousa

Joseph Michael Sousa, a beloved father, family member, and dedicated friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Attleboro, Massachusetts, on August 29, 2024, at the age of 62. Born on September 22, 1961, in Fall River, Massachusetts, Joseph was the son of the late Joseph and Evelyn (Favro) Sousa. As a child, Joseph delighted in getting into mischief with his friends from the Bristol neighborhood, his cousins, and his siblings. A protective brother, he was always ready to stand up for his family. His summers were joyfully spent at the family lake house, where he enjoyed swimming, fishing, and water skiing. Throughout his childhood and teens, he also honed his skills as an all-star wrestler. Joseph had a passion for playing pool, muscle cars, and cherished celebrating grand Christmases and holidays with his loved ones. After attending New England Technical Institute for Electrical Sciences, Joseph began his career at Walco in Providence before finding his true calling as a skilled electrical and mechanical troubleshooter at Texas Instruments in Attleboro. Known for his ability to fix just about anything, Josephs talents extended beyond his professional life. He was a true renaissance man, passionate about inventive projects that he meticulously crafted in his beloved garage workshop. His green thumb was evident in the beautiful gardens he cultivated, and his love for the open water was expressed through his many boating adventures. Joseph also spent several years living life to the fullest in Florida, on both Pine Island and in Fort Myers. A dedicated father, Joseph devoted his time and energy to teaching and guiding his children with patience and strength. His perseverance and courage were particularly evident as he faced life's challenges, including his own health battles, with unwavering resolve and dignity. He approached the end of his life with the same grace and strength that defined him. Those who knew Joseph will remember him for his big heart, adventurous spirit, and unwavering willingness to help others, especially those less fortunate and the elderly. His kindness and generosity left an indelible mark on everyone he met. Joseph Michael Sousas legacy of love, kindness, and perseverance will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Joseph is survived by his two loving children, Kristyn Melo and her husband Matthew of Attleboro, MA, and Nathin Sousa of Fort Myers, FL. He was a devoted and proud grandfather to Keira and Aria Melo, whose lives were enriched by his love and guidance. He is also survived by his siblings: John C. Sousa (Sandy), Betty-Anne Santos (Tony), Linda Caromile (Bruce), Joanne Silva (Mario), MaryEllen Damato (Frank), Paul Sousa; along with many extended relatives and friends. Josephs life will be honored with a public wake at Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, on September 14th from 9am to 11am. He will be laid to rest privately at St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol.
