Joseph Correia Silva

Joseph Correia Silva, 79, of Bristol passed away peacefully at Philip Hulitar Hospice center on Monday, November 21, 2022. He was the devoted husband of Theresa (Rapoza) Silva for 55 years before his passing. Born on the Azorean island of Faial, he was the son of the late Joaquim and Maria (Moitoso) Silva. Joseph was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Church in Bristol where he was a member of the Holy Ghost Society and the choir. He was the Bristol Sports Club Man of the Year in 2013. Joseph was an avid music enthusiast and taught himself how to play the accordion and string instruments. In addition to his wife Theresa, Joseph is also survived by his daughters: Teresa Gadouas (David) and Cheryl Whiteside (Jesse); his grandchildren: Jillian Whiteside, Tessa Whiteside, Ethan Gadouas, Tristan Whiteside, Marissa Gadouas; his sisters: Antonette Goulart and Beatrice Costa; and many extended family and friends. Joseph was pre-deceased by his parents Joaquim and Maria and his siblings: Alvin Silva, Constantino da Silva, and Manuel Silva. Visiting Hours will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 4-7 PM at Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, from Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, RI at 9:30 AM , with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol, RI. Burial will follow St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name can be made to the United Brotherhood of the Holy Spirit and the Holy Trinity, St. Elizabeths Church, Bristol, RI.
