A Beautiful Life A beautiful life that came to an end, He died as he lived, everyones friend. In our hearts a memory will always be kept, Of one we loved, and will never forget. Joseph M. Cicero, age 69, of 8 Silver Creek Ct., Bristol, died Saturday, February 2, 2008 at his home surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was the husband of Jean L. (Parent) Cicero.A lifelong resident of Bristol, he was the son of the late Salvatore & Angelina (Mathias) Cicero.Mr. Cicero served his country in the United States Navy, Navy Reserve, United States Army, and the United States Army National Guard. He retired in 1995 as a Sergeant First Class from the U.S. Army, RI National Guard Unit, where he served as Battalion Ammo Sgt. and Full Time Readiness NCO at Headquarters. He later worked for Roger Williams University as a Public Safety Officer and shuttle driver until his retirement this past August.Mr. Cicero was a lifelong drum corps enthusiast. He was a member of the former Warren Indian Band and the Generations Alumni Drum & Bugle Corp. He was a member and Past Exalted Ruler Bristol County Elks # 1860. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. He loved spending time with his wife and family. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and a genuine friend to many.Besides his loving wife he is survived by four daughters, Julie Power, Jo-Ann Morra and her husband Robert of Bristol, Jana L. Longo and her husband Jay of Warren and Jill M. Cicero of Providence. He also leaves eight grandchildren: Courtney and Stephanie Power, Jennifer, Stephen, and Lauren Morra, and John, Jami, and Jenna Longo. He also leaves a sister, Marie Burden of FL.Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home 192 Wood St., Bristol Thursday at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church 141 State St., Bristol.Burial with Military Honors will follow in the North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 PM.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to VNS Hospice Newport & Bristol Counties PO Box 690, Portsmouth, RI 02871 or Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church 141 State St., Bristol, RI 02809.
