Mr. Joseph A. Cavallaro, age 91, of 1 Jennifer Drive, Bristol, died on Monday, March 26, 2007 at the Jane Brown Unit of Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of the late Anna C. (Mangiante) Cavallaro. Born in Derby, CT, he was a son of the late Aniello and Angelina (Langella) Cavallaro. Mr. Cavallaro was a Registered Pharmacist and was the owner of Buffington Pharmacy, formerly on Hope St., Bristol, for 45 years. He graduated from Rhode Island College of Pharmacy in 1939 earning a Bachelor of Science Degree. From 1967-1981 he attended Salve Regina College, Brown University, the University of Rhode Island, Providence College and Bristol Community College. He received a Masters Degree in Teaching and Advancement in Sciences. He was a science teacher at Bristol High School and Class Advisor from 1982-1986. In 1986 he joined the staff of the Warren Medical Center working as a medical assistant to his son, the late Dr. A. Joseph Cavallaro, D.O. He was a communicant of St. Marys Church, a Past Grand Knight and Chancellor of the Bristol Council, Knights of Columbus, member of the Bristol Rotary Club, Vice President of the Lebaron Colt Ambulance Fund and Man of the Year for the Italo-American War Veterans in 1983. He is survived by two daughters, Julie A. Almeida (Paul Medeiros) of Aventura, FL, Dorothy M. Cintolo (John) of Bristol, two sons, Robert A. Cavallaro (Mary) of Barrington and Mark C. Cavallaro of Flemington, NJ, a sister, AngelaRose Cavallaro of Barrington, seven grandchildren; Dawn L. Shanley, Raymond J. Almeida, Erin A. Ward, Jennifer Goulet, Alexandra Cavallaro, Robert P. Cavallaro and Annalee Primiano and eight great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a son, Dr. A. Joseph Cavallaro, and three sisters, Mary H. and Anna C. Cavallaro and Julia C. “Angie” Brewer. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Friday, March 30 at 9 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Marys Church, 330 Wood St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours, Thursday, 4-8 PM.
