Mr. Joseph M. “Red” Cappucci, age 85 of 180 Franklin St., Bristol, died Saturday, May 9, 2009 at the Roger Williams Medical Center, Providence. Born in Bristol, RI he was the son of the late Domenic and Carmella (Proto) Cappucci. Mr. Cappucci worked for the State of Rhode Island at the RI Veterans Home in Bristol as a boiler man retiring after 30 years in 1989. Mr. Cappucci was a US Navy WW II Veteran. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol. He was a member of the Cup Defenders Association in Bristol, loved playing softball, swimming and bowling with the senior league. He is survived by a brother, Peter M. Cappucci of Bristol, a niece, Carmella Farrell and her husband Brian of North Providence, three nephews, Domenic Cappucci and his wife Madeline, Ronald Cappucci and his wife Patricia, Anthony Cappucci and his wife Lisa all of Bristol. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers Sgt. Anthony M. Cappucci, Michael and Frank Cappucci and a sister Carmella Cangiano. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol Tuesday at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church State St., Bristol. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visitation is Tuesday morning at 9:00 AM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Bristol Rescue Squad, PO Box 775, Bristol, RI 02809.
