John Paul Serpa

Mr. John Paul Serpa, age 47, of 24 Duffield Road, Bristol, died unexpectly Sunday, September 13 at Exeter Hospital, Exter, NH, following being stricken at the NE Dragway. Born in Fall River, MA and a lifelong resident of Bristol, he was the son of John P. and Lillian (Almeida) Serpa of Bristol. A mechanic and a Drag Car Racer, he owned and operated JPS Racing in Bristol. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeths Church, Bristol. His passion was drag car race driving. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Steven Serpa of Florida, four sisters, Beverly Sweeney of Florida, Karen Serpa of East Providence, Kathy Thwaite of Somerset, MA and Patty Jo Serpa of Riverside and his girlfriend, Kerry Patterson of East Providence. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Friday, Sept. 18 at 9:00AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St. Elizabeths Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Bristol. Visiting hours, Thursday, Sept. 17 from 4:00-7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 222 Richmond Street, Suite 108, Providence, RI 02903.
