Jerome A. Squatrito, 79, passed away at Rhode Island Hospital on Tuesday, June 28, 2022. He was the loving husband and high school sweetheart of Elaine (DaPonte) Squatrito for 56 years before his passing. Born and raised in Bristol with his sisters Nina McCarthy and the late Joyce Simoes, he was the son of the late Matthew and Anna (Pirri) Squatrito. Romey as his friends called him, was always quick to greet with a smile, a joke, or an update on the Yankees. He graduated from Colt Memorial High School in 1962 and soon after started his career as a Butcher. Jerome was active in serving the local community as a member of the Town Planning Board and Zoning Committee. He was also a devoted member of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel parish. In 2000, Jerome and Elaine were honored as Chief Marshals of the July 16th Feast for Our Lady of Mount Carmel. He was also the chairperson of the feast for five years from 1990-1995. Jerome was an Honorary Life Member and Former Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Bristol Council #379 and a member of La Bella Sicilia Society. In addition to his beloved wife Elaine, he leaves behind his daughters, Anne Elizabeth Swinney (Jeff) and Mattie Anne Bolus (Mark), his grandchildren, Emma Rose Swinney, Jack Swinney, and Stephen Bolus, his Godson Patrick McCarthy and many extended family and friends. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, RI at 9 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Visiting hours are Tuesday, July 5, 2022, 4 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his name can be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, 127 State Street, Bristol.
