JIM WHITE - Mechanical Engineer, car enthusiast and scout leader, leaves loving family in Bristol. Mr. James 'Jim' White, age 47 of 17 Clifton Road, Bristol, died Saturday, August 26, 2006 after a long, courageous battle with cancer, peacefully surrounded by his family at his home. He leaves his wife, Vicky, and three sons. The son of Seamus and Patricia White of Warren, he was born in Belfast, Ireland, and lived in Bristol for the past 18 years. He lived previously in Warren and New Jersey. A mechanical engineer, Jim was employed by the Naval Undersea Warfare Center and continued working while extremely ill. He was an intense animal lover and an active member of the Collie Rescue League of Rhode Island. He was also a car enthusiast, with a lifetime fascination with Formula 1 racing. He traveled to many parts of the world following Formula 1 Grand Prix races, and drove Formula 1 cars in England, France and at Limerock race track in Connecticut, where he traveled twice a year to see the races with his sons. An avid hobbyist of remote controlled airplanes and rockets, he spent much of his time flying both with his family, which he adored. Favorite family pastimes including cycling on the bike path, camping in Myles Standish State Forest and Boy Scout activities. Jim was a scout leader. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol for 16 years. He received a bachelor's of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Rhode Island. Besides his wife and parents, he leaves three sons, Connor, Seamus and Graham, all of Bristol; three brothers, Brian and Colin White, both of Bristol and Anthony White of Somers, Conn. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday, August 30 at 10:00 AM in St. Mary's Church, 330 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Visiting Hours Tuesday, 5:00-8:00 PM in the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Collie Rescue League of New England, C/O Sue Pacheco, 463 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston, RI 02910.
