Mr. James J. Velleca, Jr., age 75, of 10 Aaron Ave, Bristol, died Thursday, August 3, 2006 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the loving husband of Christine L. (Diodati) Velleca, his wife of 53 years. Born in Fall River, MA and a lifelong resident of Bristol, he was a son of the late James J. and Julia (DeFelice) Velleca. He was a plant manager for the former Bristol Manufacturing Company and Miner Industries, both formerly in Bristol, for 41 years before retiring a number of years ago. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol. He was a Korean War Veteran serving in the US Army. In addition to his wife, he is survived by, two sons, James J. Velleca, III and his wife Angela of Pelham, AL, Christopher J. Velleca and his wife Rueith of Bristol, a sister, Theresa Perry of Bristol. He was devoted Popi to Katie, Jody, James, Claire and Abigail Velleca. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Francis Velleca. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Tuesday, August 8 at 10:30 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial with Military Honors will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Visiting Hours, Monday 4:00-8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol, RI 02809.
