James F. Riccio Jr. (Jim), 76, of Bristol, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. He was the loving husband of Elizabeth (Scott) Riccio and the late Linda (Sartrys) Riccio. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late James Fred and Stephanie (Zbyszewski) Riccio. Jim was a lifelong resident of Bristol. Jim's commitment to service was a cornerstone of his life. Upon returning to Bristol, he continued his service to the community, dedicating an impressive 54 years to the Bristol Fire Department as an Assistant Fire Chief and a member of Dreadnaught Hook, Ladder & Hose Company No. 1. Jim also served his church with dedication. He was the Chairman of the Church Council and the Chairman of the Board of Deacons for the First Congregational Church of Bristol. Additionally, he served the Town of Bristol as the Town Sergeant and served on the North and East Burial Grounds Commission. Jim's selfless dedication to the community he loved will continue to inspire us all. Jim was a mechanic by trade, owning his own business for many years, but his passion for mechanical things didnt stop at cars. Jim worked for the city of Newport as a heavy mechanic and locomotive mechanic for Amtrak and MBTA until retirement. Jim's life was a testament to the power of love and simple joys. His family and friends were his greatest treasures, and he found happiness in their company. Jim was a devoted father and grandfather, passionately involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren. As a dedicated hockey dad, he spent countless hours at the rink supporting his sons. When his grandchildren came along, he often took them on fishing trips or showed them his secret quahog spot aboard his boat, The Coco Loco. Jim enjoyed being in the moment with those around him. Jim is survived by his wife Beth; his children: Jarrod Riccio (Kathleen), Justin Riccio, Amy English (Christopher), Nicole Christ (Andrew), and Ian Gerrior (Amy); and his grandchildren: Hannah Riccio, Emma Riccio, Madison Christ, Margaret Christ, Cameron Christ, Lauren English, William English, Caroline English, Shaelyn Trudeau, Ethan Gerrior, and Harrison Gerrior.
