Jacqueline Y. Roland

Mrs. Jacqueline Y. (Scheinziss) Roland passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at Silver Creek Manor, Bristol. Born in 1921 in Paris, France, a daughter of the late Ernest and Lea Scheinziss, she married the late Dr. Fredy P. Roland in 1941 and immigrated to the United States in 1949 with her husband and children. She raised her family of six children in Seekonk, MA and then Rumford, RI and finally settling in her beloved home of 30 years on Poppasquash Point in Bristol. She taught French for 20 years at the Lincoln School in Providence, RI. A long time resident of Bristol, she enjoyed gardening, swimming, reading and quilting. She was a communicant of St. Marys Church. After her retirement from the Lincoln School she volunteered at the Barrington YMCA, Coggeshall Farm in Bristol and taught English as a second language to recent immigrants. She was a long time breast cancer survivor. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years. She is survived by her children, 3 sons: Dr. Jean Michel Roland, Buffalo, NY; Dr. Fredy P. Roland, Warren, RI and Dr. William Roland, Columbia, MO and 3 daughters: Martine Matzke, Denver, CO; Marie-Claude Rossi, Bristol, RI and Francoise Crowell, New London, NH. Also survived by 10 grandchildren: Katharine Rossi, Heather Matzke-Hamlin, Joshua Roland, Sarah Monique Fredman, Jennifer Laplant, Peter Crowell, Matthew Roland, Benjamin Crowell, Sam Roland and Madeline Roland and by 7 great-grandchildren: Ethan, Camden, Bailey, Peter James, Ellie Jacqueline, Hunter and Brady. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 10:30 AM in St. Marys Church, 330 Wood Street, Bristol, RI. Burial will be private and visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 would be gratefully appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Sansone Funeral Home, Bristol.
