Hortense Puniello

Hortense "Tancy" (Carreira) Puniello, 95, passed away at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Bluffton, South Carolina on Tuesday, June 11, 2024. She was the wife of the late John Anthony Puniello for 34 years before his passing in 1985. Born in Bristol, she was the daughter of the late Joaquim "Jack" Carreira and Mary (Mendes) Carreira. Tancy was a Colt Memorial High School graduate, class of 1946. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Bristol. Tancy worked as a secretary for the Bristol School Department for many years before her retirement in 1991. She moved to South Carolina in 2021, but her heart was always in her hometown of Bristol. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and most recently great-grandchildren. Hortenses memory will be cherished by her children: John A. Puniello (Alicia), Frances A. Souza (James), her grandchildren: Michael Souza and Jamie Holaday (Jonathan), her great grandchildren: Cameron, Dominic, and Francesca Holaday, her nephews, and many friends and acquaintances. She was pre-deceased by her husband and her parents. Her funeral services will begin from Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol on Monday, June 17, 2024 with a Visiting Hour from 9:00 AM 10:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. She will be laid to rest at St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol.
