Gilda C. (Proto) Pine, age 90, of 1 Chester Avenue, Bristol died Sunday, October 1, 2006 at the Crestwood Nursing Home, Child Street, Warren. Born in Bristol and a lifelong residence she was the daughter of the late Domenico and Madeline (Alferi) Proto. She was a machine operator for the former Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corp. formerly in Bristol and Portsmouth for 33 years, until retiring a number of years ago. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a member of the former Holy Rosary Society, the Rosary and Altar Society and the Nocturnal Adoration Society andshe was a former feast and bazaar worker at the church. She leaves her daughter, Mary M. Cabral of Bristol, a son Joseph E. Pine of Barrington, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three sisters Emily Proto of Warren, Olympia DelToro of Bristol and Evelyn Manuels of Barrington. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers Nicholas, Edward and Gaetano Proto and a sister Margaret Machado. Funeral Services will be held from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Saturday at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours Friday, 4:00-7:00 PM.
