Almeida, Gilbert, 80 of 2 Cedar Drive, Bristol, died Saturday, June 13, 2009 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband of Sarah (Pirri) Almeida, his wife of 59 years. Born in Fall River, MA, he was a son of the late Alexander and Philomena (Medeiros) Almeida. He served his country in the US Coast Guard during Korean Conflict. Gil was the founder and owner of Gils Television and Appliance in Bristol for many years until turning it over to his daughters, Lisa and Gail in 1996. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, a member of the Leonardo DaVinci Lodge, # 2289, Order Sons of Italy in America and a member of the Bristol Council # 379, Knights of Columbus. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Lisa Sienkiewicz and her husband Frank, Gail Parella and her husband Joseph, all of Bristol, five grandchildren, Sarah and Alex Sienkiewicz, Peter, Joe and Matthew Parella, three sisters, Alice Correia of Fall River, MA, Irene Medeiros of Tiverton and Dolores Costa of Fall River, MA. and a brother, Rudolph Almeida of Clearwater, FL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Alexander and Joseph Almeida, and two sisters, Hilda Rebello and Ida Borges. Funeral services will be held from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol Thursday at 9:00 AM with a concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope St., Bristol. Visiting Hours, Wednesday 5:00-8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimers Association, 245 Waterman St., Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906 or Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol, RI 02809.
