Obituary

Geraldine T. Humphrey died on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Helen ( Byrnes) Tattrie.

Born in Fall River, MA and raised in Bristol, RI, Gerry attended St. Mary's School, graduated from Bristol High School class of 1967, and received her BA from Roger Williams College.
(University). Gerry earned her Master's Degree as well.

She met the love of her life, Harold Humphrey, in Newport in 1980. Married in 1982, they lived a life full of adventure and fun until Harold's passing in 2009. They traveled extensively both for pleasure and for Gerry's job with the Federal Government which began in Newport, RI in the 1980's. Among her positions were;

Chief and Contracting Officer in Construction; Seymour Johnson In Goldsboro, North Carolina, DoD Contracting Officer at Peterson AFB, Colorado Springs, CO and at Ramstien AB, Germany, finally retiring from NSA, Ft. Meade, Maryland. She received numerous job-related accolades during her career, including commendations, certificates and awards. Gerry relocated to Portsmouth, RI, then back to Bristol several years ago.

Enjoying many pets over the years, they traveled with their menagerie which usually included two dogs and a cat, even taking them to Europe. She leaves behind her much loved dog, Lacey.

Gerry had many interests including reading, history and genealogy, the beach and the water. She was a life-long learner, most recently engaged in playing mahjong. Even though she lived all over, she still considered herself a Bristolian. Gerry was independent, self-made and very political, never afraid to express her opinions. If you met her, you wouldn't forget her.

She is survived by her sister, Amrie H. Alexandre, 15 nieces and nephews and their families, many cousins and extended family and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Gerry was pre-deceased by her 3 siblings, Sarah T. Caizzi, Paula K. Calandra, Arthur T. Tattrie, and nephew Michael A. Calandra.

Visitation has been respectfully omitted.
