Franklyn Hunt Lohr, Jr.

FRANKLYN H. LOHR JR., 83, died May 9, 2009 in Providence RI. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps. A life insurance agent throughout his career and member of the Million Dollar Round Table, he was the founder of Lohr & Associates in New York. In 1989, a lifelong passion for sailing led him to the Carribean where he lived with his wife, Anne, often aboard their sloop Madeline, until 1997 when he returned to Rhode Island to be closer to family. He was a member of the New York Yacht Club, the Corinthians, the British Virgin Islands Yacht Club and the Bristol Yacht Club. He is survived by his wife Anne of Warren RI; his former wife Jane of Mystic CT; sons Franklyn Lohr III of Old Greenwich CT and Randall Lohr of Stonington CT; stepdaughter Jean Pike and stepson Lt. Col. Thomas Pike Jr., US Army, both of New York City; and grandchildren Dana Hambidge of Pawcatuck CT, Kerrie Lohr of Burlington VT, Franklyn Lohr IV and Phillip Lohr of Old Greenwich CT, and Thomas Pike III of Washington DC. A memorial service will be held at St. Michaels Episcopal Church, 399 Hope Street, Bristol RI, on Sunday, May 17th at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Music Program c/o St. Michaels Church.
