Frank R. Camera

October 20, 1946 — April 2, 2021

Frank R. Camera, 74, of Bristol, Rhode Island left this world suddenly on April 2 and left behind his friends, family and a dry wit that will forever be remembered. Those who loved him will honor him by living life to the fullest. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Pasquale Camera and the late Lucy (Maisano) Camera. After graduating from Colt Memorial School in 1964, Frank was hired as an assistant clerk in the Providence County Superior Court. He would attain the position of Clerk of Providence and Bristol Counties before his retirement. Frank was married to the late Christine (Sousa) Camera. Together they had one child, Frank D. Camera, an attorney. During the Vietnam War, Frank served honorably in the Air National Guard. Not one to sit still, Frank's love of politics led him to become the Chairman of the Bristol Democratic Town Committee for a number of years. Subsequently, with his wife Christine, they founded CJ's Video in Bristol, which was one of the first stores in town to rent movies in those now obsolete disc and videotape machines. In his latter years, Frank, as a Justice of the Peace, found great joy performing wedding ceremonies throughout Rhode Island, eating dinner at Twin Oaks in Cranston with his family and spending time with his long-time partner Gail Garvin. However, those that knew him best know that his greatest joy was his two grandchildren, Nathaniel Camera, a freshman at the University of South Carolina, and Marlayna (Lani) Camera, a junior at the Portsmouth Abbey School. From their birth to his untimely passing, his grandchildren were his world and that gift will always remain. Frank's life will be honored with visiting hours on Thursday, April 8th from 4p.m. to 7p.m.at Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday April 9, 2021 at 11 AM at St. Elizabeth Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial with Military Honors will take place in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. In lieu of flowers, Franks family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
