Emily T. Proto

Ms. Emily T. Proto, age 94 of Wood Street, Bristol, died Friday, August 24, 2007 at the Grace Barker Nursing Center, 54 Barker Avenue, Warren. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Domenico and Maddalena (Alfieri) Proto. She worked for many years for Converse Rubber Company formerly in Bristol retiring in 1975. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol and a member of the Rosary and Altar Society and the Nocturnal Adoration Society at the church. She is survived by four grandchildren, Kristen Head of Lauringburg, NC, Lisa F. Martin of Columbus, OH, Maureen Praschunus of Elvira, NY and Robert R. Head, Jr. of Nantucket, MA, six great grandchildren, Joshua, Alexander and Victoria Wendell, Mark, Isha and Lela Head, two sisters, Olympia V. DelToro of Bristol and Evelyn Manuels of Barrington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Elena Head, three sisters, Gilda C. Pine, Y. Margaret Machado and Elena Proto and three brothers, Nicholas, Gaetano and Edward Proto. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours, Tuesday morning at 9:00 AM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol, RI 02809.
