Mrs. Emily (Duarte) Normandin, age 88, of Silver Creek Manor Nursing Home, Bristol, died Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at the nursing home. She was the wife of the late George E. Normandin. Born in Little Compton, RI and a Bristol resident for most of her life, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Alice (Silva) Duarte. She was a production line worker at the former Carol Cable Co. for 10 years, retiring in 1982. She had previously worked at the former Premier Thread Co. in Bristol. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeths Church, Bristol. She is survived by two sons, George Normandin of Bristol, Philip Normandin of Lincoln, three daughters, Joan Pion and Alice Cardoza, both of Florida and Kathleen DeCosta of Warren, twenty grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and a sister, Helen Sargento of Warren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sons, Richard, Robert and Ronald Normandin, a daughter, Barbara A. Pires and brothers, Frank, John, and William Duarte and sisters, Mary Kirkwood and Josephine Duarte. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Elizabeths Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours Friday, October 30, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Silver Creek Manor Patient Activities Fund, 7 Creek Lane, Bristol, RI 02809.
