Elvira A. Milligan

Mrs. Elvira E. (Fusco) Milligan, age 89, of 44 Beach Road, Bristol, died peacefully Saturday, March 28, 2009 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Charles A. Milligan, her husband of 38 years. Elvira was known to many people as “Red” because of her beautiful red hair or “nonnie”. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Anna (Bova) Fusco. She worked as a seamstress for 40 years for many textile shops in the Bristol area, retiring in 1975 from the former Priscilla Sportswear in Bristol. Mrs. Milligan was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, she loved Ballroom Dancing at the German Club in Pawtucket, working around in her flower gardens and yard and love of her cats. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, William J. Wooten of Portsmouth, four grandchildren, Dawn Patterson of Warren, Robert Brule of South Kingstown, William Jr. and Audra Wooten of Portsmouth and two great granddaughters, Tara and Courtney Patterson, whom she loved dearly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Roseann Brule, a brother, Ralph Fusco, and two sisters, Ann Zwacki and Nicolette Fusco. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Wednesday, April 1, at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, March 31 from 4:00-7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beacon Hospice, 1 Catamore Blvd., East Providence, RI 02914.
