Dorothy Rego

Mrs. Dorothy (Travers) Rego, age 81, of 407 Thompson Drive, Richardson, Texas and formerly of Bristol, died Saturday, July 14, 2007 at the Miriam Hospital, Providence. She was the wife of Vincent A. Rego, founder and chairman emeritus of Encore Wire Corp., McKinney, TX., her husband of 54 years. Born in raised in Bristol, RI she was a daughter of the late Jules P. and Belmira (Costa) Travers. Mrs. Rego has been a resident in the Dallas area for 53 years, previously residing in Bristol. She was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School, Bristol, Class of 1943. She was active as a civic volunteer, municipal house and garden tour guide, an avid artistic painter, jewelry designer and interior designer. She was a communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Church, Richardson, TX. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Paul and Daniel Rego, both of Dallas, TX, a granddaughter, Cienna Dubay, Nieces and nephews, Edward P. Travers, II, Stephany Silvia and Maryelizabeth DaPonte, all of Bristol, Eleanor T. Cox, of Warren, Leslie, Marnie and John L. Hubert, all of Cranston and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, the late Dr. Edward P. Travers, former Superintendent of Bristol Public Schools. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, Tuesday, July 17 at 11:00 AM in St. Marys Church, 330 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery, Dallas, Texas. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Marys Church, 330 Wood Street, Bristol, RI 02809. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Sansone Funeral Home, Bristol.
