Mrs. Dorisse Lauretta (Joubert) Battcher, of 190 Wood Street, Bristol, died Tuesday, January 8, 2007 at home after an extended illness, in her 83rd year. Born in Fall River, MA, she was a daughter of the late Adelard and Clara (Robidoux) Joubert and widow of the late, Reinhard Battcher, Jr. Mrs. Battcher had resided in Bristol, at her Wood Street residence from the time of her marriage in June 1952. During World War II, she worked at the Providence Shipyard, where she was trained and certified as a tack welder on construction of the famed “Liberty Ships.” Knitting and needlework were her avid hobbies. She was a member of the Bristol Historical & Preservation Society. She leaves three sons, Reinhard Battcher, III and George H. Battcher, both of Bristol and Eric Battcher of Gallilee, RI and one grandson, Eric Battcher, Jr., of Swansea, MA. She also leaves, three sisters, Beatrice Osborne of Reno, NV; Rita M. Pedersen of Fall River and Irene Thibault of Naples, FL., four nieces and one nephew. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Normand, Wilfred and Napoleon H. Joubert. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, Friday, January 12, at 9:00 AM with a Requiem Eucharist Service at 10:00 AM in St. Michaels Episcopal Church, Hope Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Visitation is Friday morning only at 9:00 AM. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to E.C.H.O., P.O. Box 581, Bristol, RI 02809, the local volunteer organization, who help those in need of transportation to doctors appointments.
