Mr. Dennis F. Viera, age 87, of 161 Mt. Hope Avenue, Bristol, died Monday, December 17, 2007 at the Grace Barker Nursing Center, 54 Barker Avenue, Warren. He was the husband of the late Mary Isabelle (Bernard) Viera. Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, he was a son of the late Manuel and Maria (Sousa) Viera. Mr. Viera owned and operated the former Dennys Tap on Bradford Street, Bristol for 40 years. He worked at the RI Veterans Home in the Kitchen for 13 years, retiring in 1985. He served in the US Army during WWII. Mr. Viera was a communicant of St. Marys Church, Bristol and a 63 year member of the Bristol Fire Dept. Eveready Engine and Hose Co. No. 2 and a life member of the Bristol Fire Police. He is survived by a daughter, Nancy Malafronte and her husband, Salvatore of Bristol, a son, Dennis F. Viera, Jr. and his wife, Patricia of Altamonte Springs, FL, three grandsons; Salvatore Malafronte, Jr., Jason Malafronte and Dennis F. Viera, III, four great grandchildren; Amanda, Nicholas and Samantha Malafronte and Katelyn Walsh. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Joseph, Jessie and Manuel Viera, three sisters, Jessie Furtado, Theresa Viera and Anna Bettencourt. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 9 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Marys Church, 330 Wood St., Bristol. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Chestnut St., Bristol. Visiting hours Friday, 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Bristol Volunteer Fire Dept. Charitable Foundation, P.O. Box 775, or to St. Marys Church “Restore Her Beauty Campaign”, 330 Wood St., both Bristol, RI 02809.
