Mr. Dennis T. Sousa,of Mulberry Road in Bristol passed away on Wednesday, December 23rd. Born in Bristol, he was the son of Virginio Sousa and Margaret (Medeiros) Sousa.Mr. Sousa graduated from Bristol High School (Class of 44). He then served in the United States Navy as a Seabee, stationed in Okinawa during World War II. While stationed, he also attended the University of Okinawa.Upon release from active duty, Mr. Sousa Graduated from New England Technical School. He then proudly worked for over Forty years in quality control at Kaiser Aluminum U.S. Rubber, in both Bristol and Portsmouth. Following that, Mr. Sousa learned the trade of Real Estate Brokerage, Graduating from University of Rhode Island and then working Under Lionel Carreiro, before opening his own firm, Dennis T. Sousa Real Estate.Following that, Mr. Sousa worked as an employee for several retail entities including Bennys in Bristol, and CJs Video, a past family business.In his downtime, Mr. Sousa belonged to many clubs and organizations including the Rhode Island association of Realtors, St. Elizabeth Church Choir, and volunteering as an instructor in the St. Elizabeth Church CCD class. This in addition to his life-long passion and joy of music --- especially the country genre --- as well as mastering various instruments including piano, guitar, organ, and the harmonica. He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-one years, Dolores S. Sousa. Three children: Janet S. Grapentine of Bristol, Joseph Sousa of Bristol, and the late Christine S. Camera of Bristol. Two Sisters: Agnes Costa of Bristol and Helen Tuvino of Smithfield. Three Brothers: Frank T. Sousa of Bristol, James T. Sousa of West Warwick, and the late Joseph Sousa of Bristol. Two Grandchildren: William L. Sousa Grapentine (who was like a son to him), and Frank D. Camera of Barrington. He is also survived by two Great-Grandchildren and many Nieces and Nephews.Funeral Services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, Monday at 10:00am with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in St. Elizabeth's Church, 577 Wood St., Bristol. The calling hours will be held Monday December 28, 2009 from8:30-10:00 AM.Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery Chestnut St., Bristol.
